SOUTH WEST BRASS BAND ASSOCIATION

 

MINUTES OF THE 64th ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING HELD ON SUNDAY 7TH MARCH 2010 AT THE BANDROOM, BOUNSALL LANE, LAUNCESTON COMMENCING AT 4 P.M.

 

1/10.  PRESENT: Raymond Kingdon (Chairman), Vivian Willcock (Vice-Chairman), Brian Elliott (Secretary), Keith Gibbs (Treasurer), John Croker (Minute Secretary), Bert Buzza (Life Associate).

Bands Represented:  Appledore, Bideford Town, Honiton, Launceston Town, Soundhouse Brass, Stannary Brass, St Austell Town, St Breward Silver, St Dennis, Tiverton Town.

2/10. APOLOGIES FOR ABSENCE: Goff Richards (President), Frances Calver and Gil Taylor (Executive members), Camelford Town, Crediton Town, Holsworthy Town, Lympstone SW Telecoms, Newton Abbot & District Town, Portishead Town, St Keverne Bands.

 

3/10 MINUTES  of the Annual General Meeting held on 1st March 2009 were approved and signed as a correct record.

 

4/10 REPORT FOR THE YEAR ENDING 21.12.2009 was prepared by the Secretary on behalf of the Executive Committee and was adopted by the meeting unanimously. The Chairman said that it was rewarding that we do so much and thanked the Secretary and Executive Committee for their hard work and for all the support from the bands.

 

5/10 ACCOUNTS FOR THE YEAR ENDING 31.12.2009.

These were presented by the Treasurer Keith Gibbs in a very detailed way. He explained that for the first time since 2004 we were in profit. The Chairman thanked Mr Gibbs for the meticulous way he kept the accounts. Proposal from Bideford Town and seconded by Soundhouse that the accounts be adopted. The meeting voted unanimously  to adopt.

 

6/10 HONORARIA to Chairman, Secretary and Treasurer.

Executive committee recommended a ten percent increase to the Chairman, Secretary and Treasurer

Proposed by Stannary Brass seconded by Bideford Town that recommendation be accepted.

Carried unanimously.

 

7/10 ANNUAL SUBSCRIPTION. Executive committee recommend that there be no increase in the Annual Subscription

for the year 2011.

Carried unanimously

 

8/10 ELECTION OF OFFICERS AND EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE 2010/2011

Two written nominations have been received , the Executive Committee nominate the following named for election:

Election of Officers and Committee approved en bloc unanimously.

 

9/10 HONORARY AUDITOR

Meeting unanimously re-appointed Arthur Rundle.

 

10/10 COUNCIL OF WEST OF ENGLAND BRASS BAND ASSOCIATIONS

The Executive Committee recommend that the following continue as delegates to the council,

Brian Elliott, Ray Kingdom, Vivian Willcock. Substitute delegate to council, any member of the Executive Committee.

Passed unanimously.

 

11/10 ARTHUR BEDWELL MEMORIAL TRUST.

The Executive committee recommend that the trustees be Frances Calver,John Croker and Anne Luxton

All in agreement.

 

12/10 CORNWALL YOUTH BRASS BAND

Executive committee recommends that Vivian  Willcock continue as the representative of the Association. Approved.

 

13/10 CHILD PROTECTION OFFICER.

The Executive committee recommends that Anne Luxton be re-elected as the Association’s Child Protection Officer.

Unanimously approved.

 

14/10 LIMITED COMPANY.

This AGM authorises the executive Committee to set up the Association as a Limited Company by Guarantee at the

earliest opportunity whilst amending the Constitution as required.

Proposed by Soundhouse Brass and Seconded by Bideford and unanimously approved. Mr Vivian Willcock 
asked that a vote of thanks be recorded to Mr Keith Anderson for sharing his experience with the meeting.
