WORKSHOP

                 TIMES:                         0930 for 1000 until 1630

                 WHO TO ATTEND         Band personnel already involved in the training of

                                                     beginners and those intending to become involved

                 OBJECT:                      Intensive tuition by a Tutor experienced in band training.

                                                     The format for the day’s training is given underneath.

                                                     Each Trainer will need to bring an instrument and stand.

                 COST:                          £30.00 inclusive of lunch, and tea and coffee throughout.

                APPLICATION:             to attend must be made on a form (on the website after

                this info) together with remittance payable to SWBBA,

              Early application is essential as numbers are limited

          Aim of the Course 
         
          To develop the teaching skills of the Trainers by providing a forum in which Trainers

          can exchange ideas and discuss their concerns, with the Tutor and others in similar

          situations, this equipping themselves to give the best possible advice to their pupils

            Session 1

            A review of the Course he4ld in 2008 with follow up and outcomes

            Resources (a group session to consider available resources) – Trainers to bring

            examples of the resources they use to compare in groups

           Session 2

           Teaching theory          Aural skills          Arranging music for small groups

           Session 3

           Practical   Ensemble playing  - Course participants to rehearse a group of young players

           Tuning individuals within a group   -  Instrument quality & Care

           Session 4

           Any unfinished business                   and              a review of the day

          Trainers should bring to the Workshop:

          An instrument (please indicate your instrument on the booking form), Pencil & rubber, The Manual from the 2008 
          course (if available), Examples of resources used by the Trainer, and a short piece of music to rehearse with the group
